In a new segment on HJF we’re bringing food emojis to life starting with the Japanese foods including the bento box, tempura shrimp, and nigiri.  See all of them recreated in our latest Youtube video.
The main focus for sure is the Bento Box.  From our analyzation of the 4 quadrants of the bento box emoji we found that it includes a salad, rice, sushi, and some sort of fried food.
To make the bento box giant we worked directly with a 3D printer, Apyro Design, who designed the box.  For the food inside we collaborated with Wave Asian Bistro & Sushi to recreate then oversize the foods in the emoji.
This project was a long time coming, taking over 2 months from brainstorming the concept to building the box day of.
Competitive eater Nathan FIgeroa joined this epic collaboration to see if he could eat the Giant Bento Box.
See below ingredients that went in and directions if you’d like to make your own at home.
