DIY Reeses Taco, JP Vs Julia


Julia's Reeses Taco

Shortly after our Oreo Taco competition Julia started brainstorming other favorite snacks and candies that should be in taco form too. With her love for chocolate and peanut butter she decided why not make her favorite candy, Reeses, into a solid hand held dessert.

Ingredients:



  • Peanut Butter Taco Shell:
  • 1½ Cup Flour
  • 6 TBSP Sugar
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder
  • ¼ tsp Salt
  • 1¼ Cup Fat Free Milk
  • ¼ Cup Peanut Butter
  • 1 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • ½ tsp Vanilla
  • 2 Large Eggs, beaten
  • Orange Food Dye

Chocolate Taco Shell:


  • 1½ Cup Flour
  • 6 TBSP Sugar
  • ½ Cup Cocoa Powder
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder
  • ¼ tsp Salt
  • 1¼ Cup Fat Free Milk
  • 1 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • ½ tsp Vanilla
  • 2 Large Eggs, beaten
  • Orange Food Dye

Peanut Butter Filling:


  • ¼ Cup Butter
  • ¼ Cup Shortening
  • 1½ Cup Confectionery Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2½ Tbsp Dry Peanut Butter

Chocolate Filling:


  • ¼ Cup Butter
  • ¼ Cup Shortening
  • 1½ Cup Confectionery Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2½ Tbsp Cocoa Powder

Toppings and Addons:


  • Reeses Ice Cream
  • Whipped Cream
  • Reeses Pieces
  • Reeses Cups

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:



Instructions:


  1. First make your taco shells by creating your 2 batters. One peanut butter and one chocolate. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. In a separate bowl combine your milk and the remaining ingredients, then add to your dry mixture whisking until smooth.
  2. Heat a griddle to 350°F and spoon 2 tbsp onto the griddle and using the back of the spoon, make s circular motion to create your flat and thin taco shell. Flip the dough and cook evenly on both sides. Once fully cooked place on parchment paper and hold the edges up until cool, creating a taco shape, repeat until batters are all used and you have both chocolate and peanut butter taco shells.
  3. While your shells cool create your two Reese's taco fillings, one chocolate and one peanut butter.
  4. In a stand mixer add your shortening, butter, and whisk until combined. Sift your confectionery sugar and dry peanut butter OR cocoa. Add your dry ingredients gradually to your stand mixer. Add orange food dye to your peanut butter taco.
  5. Now build your tacos. Choose either peanut butter OR chocolate shell. Use the opposite cream for each taco. Place a second taco shell on top. Scoop in your Reeses Ice Cream and top with chocolate syrup, whipped cream OR filling, Reeses Cups, and Reeses Pieces.

Chocolate Batter:


  • 3 eggs
  • 3⁄4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1⁄2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sifted cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Peanut Butter Batter:


  • 3 eggs
  • 3⁄4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1⁄2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sifted dry peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Orange Food Dye

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:



Instructions:


  1. Using a whisk beat together your eggs and sugar, adding in your sugar gradually until a smooth consistency.
  2. Add melted butter and vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl sift flour, (cocoa or dry peanut butter) and add to your mixture.
  4. Preheat your waffle cone maker to 4 and scoop a heaping tablespoon of batter onto the iron. Cook for 4 minutes and quickly move off the iron. Place on parchment paper and hold the edges up to keep the cone in shape like a taco shell.
