Denny's Bacon Slamburger Recipe

By far the best thing on their menu and I can say that because I was sober when I ate it.  I prefer mine egg’s over easy.  There’s nothing like a runny egg drizzling down my cow beef soaking into my bun.

Cuisine: American
Serves: 1

Ingredients:

  • 1 Hamburger Bun - 110 Calories
  • ½ Pound 96% Lean Burger - 280 Calories
  • Over Easy Egg - 70 Calories
  • ¼ Cup Shredded Hashbrowns - 35 Calories
  • 2 Tbsp Cheese Sauce - 40 Calories
  • 2 Strips Turkey Bacon - 50 Calories

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:

Instructions:

Step 1:

  1. Begin by frying your frozen hash browns on a cast iron skillet if you have one. Use about 2 Tbsp of Vegetable Oil and once the pan gets to about medium high heat toss in one layer of frozen hash browns.
  2. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, cayenne and cover. Do not stir or touch for 3 minutes.
  3. After 3 minutes, flip the hash browns and cook for an additional 3 minutes while covered on medium high heat.
  4. Once they are finished cooking, set them to the side. The pan will keep them warm while you complete the rest of your sandwich

Step 2:

  1. Form your burger patty on parchment paper or wax paper or anything that doesn't make the burger stick to it. I used about ½ pound and the size is completely up to you. Remember to oversize the burger from the bun because it will shrink up when its cooking.
  2. If your burger is about an inch thick, it takes about 2-3 minutes per side to get it medium rare at 350°F. It probably won't take more than an additional minute for medium well. That's how small of a window you have to make these burgers cooked the way you want. Unless you like them well done.
  3. Cook down some turkey bacon strips & melt your cheese.
  4. The last step you want to do is cook the egg. For over easy it only takes a few minutes on medium heat. Once the whites become opaque it is time to flip. Once you flip it should literally only take 10-20 seconds. Remember to season with salt & pepper during this process.

Step 3:

  1. To assemble a Slamburger, it is burger patty, hashbrowns, cheese sauce, egg and turkey bacon.
  2. This burger is very difficult to eat without cutting it in half. This part is magical because the yolk starts to drizzle out and act almost as a sauce flowing through your sandwich. It really is a great feeling.
