DIY Oreo Cadbury Eggs

Cadbury Eggs have always been amazing and when the UK and Oreo in America came out with the new Oreo Egg we knew it was our duty to create this at home and to make it GIANT for a very special Easter episode of HJF.  If you have a few days to kill before Easter, like to do art projects, want to use every dish in your kitchen, and have a crazy love for chocolate and Oreos, then you too should create one for yourself!  Eaten best halved, smothered in cream, chocolate syrup, ice cream, candies, and more.

Prep Time: 3 hours
Total Time: 3 hours

Recipe Type: Dessert
Cuisine: American
Serves: 1

Ingredients:

  • 4 Bags Milk Chocolate Chips
  • 1 Bag Confectioners Powdered Sugar
  • 1 Container Original Oreo Cookies
  • 4 Tbsp Butter
  • 3 Tbsp All Vegetable Shortening

Optional Additions:

  • Oreo Ice Cream
  • Whipped Cream
  • Chocolate Syrup

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:

Instructions:

  1. Melt 1 bag of chocolate chips at a time: you can use the double boiler method or microwave stirring the every 30 seconds.
  2. Pour half of the chocolate into each Giant Egg Mold and let it set in full.
  3. Once set repeat step 1 and 2 until a thick enough shell, should take a minimum of 3 bags of chocolate, possibly 4.
  4. While the chocolate sets create your filling by separating the Oreo cookies from the frosting first.
  5. In your kitchen aid mixer mix together room temperature butter and shortening.
  6. Slowly add in your sifted powdered sugar and milk until you have the right frosting consistency (thicker then a regular frosting).
  7. Crush up your chocolate cookies and stir them into your frosting.
  8. Once your chocolate eggs are set pop them out of the mold and add in your Oreo cookie frosting and put two egg halves together.
  9. Beautify this recipe by painting your own candy wrapper with tinfoil and acrylic paints OR print out a label and stick it on!
  10. Hide this beauty in an Easter Egg hunt and your sure to be the highlight of the party!
  11. Serve halved topped with whip cream, Oreo Ice Cream, chocolate syrup, Oreo candy and Oreo cookies.
