DIY Curly Mozzarella Sticks

We love curly fries and mozzarella sicks so we thought we’d combine the two to create Curly Mozzarella Sticks.  Initially, we thought we knew exactly how to do it but we proved to ourselves that when there’s a will there’s a way, and through several fails, we figured out how to make ourselves the curliest mozzarella sticks.


Jake's Curly Mozzarella Sticks

Julia’s brother Jake creates an incredibly curly version with polio string cheese.

Ingredients:



  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Cup Flour
  • 1 Cup Italian Bread Crumbs
  • 3 Polio Sting Cheese
  • Marinara

THINGS YOU’LL NEED:




Instructions:



  1. Take 5 skewers and tape them together OR use a rolling pin; dependent on the size of the curl.
  2. On a microwavable safe plate, microwave the polio string cheese for 20 seconds per stick. Let cool prior rolling it into it's a long cylindrical shape.
  3. Wrap the cheese around the skewers and place in the freezer to firm up. About 1 hour.
  4. Once frozen bread the curly cheese with flour, then egg, and last Italian bread crumbs. Set in the freezer to firm up. Deep fry at 350F until golden brown, about 2 minutes.

  • 2 Eggs

  • Using a sharp knife, spiral splice the cheese. Carefully separate the pieces without pulling the cheese apart. Place in the freezer to firm up. About 1 hour.
  • Once frozen bread the curly cheese with flour, then egg, and last Italian bread crumbs. Set in the freezer to firm up. Deep fry at 350F until golden brown, about 3 minutes.
